Nations tests Agni-V surface to surface ballistic missile

by Staff Correspondent

IADB: On Oct 27, the nation successfully test-fired Agni-V, a surface-to-surface ballistic missile. The weaponry was launched from APJ Abdul Kalam Island at approximately 1950 hrs.

This event coincided with the celebration of Infantry Day in the country. This year the nation celebrated its 75th Infantry Day on Oct 27, 2021.

Agni-5, as a weaponry, is capable of striking targets at ranges up to 5,000 kilometers with a very high degree of accuracy. It uses a three-stage solid fueled engine, as reported. The successful launch of the missile was in line with India’s policy to have ‘credible minimum deterrence’ that underpins the commitment to ‘No First Use’.
