The upcoming ADEX 2026 International Defence Exhibition in Baku, Azerbaijan, from September 30 to October 2, will serve as a pivotal platform for Rosoboronexport, the sole state agency for Russia’s defence exports and a key component of the Rostec State Corporation. As a regular and prominent exhibitor at ADEX, Rosoboronexport’s organized joint Russian exhibit underscores Russia’s continued commitment to fostering robust defence and security partnerships, particularly with nations in the Caspian region. The comprehensive display of cutting-edge military hardware and weaponry, encompassing all branches of the armed forces, as well as police and counter-terrorism units, reflects a strategic intent to address contemporary security threats and solidify Russia’s position as a leading global arms supplier.
Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport, succinctly articulated the strategic rationale behind Russia’s participation, emphasizing the selection of “newest defence products to address the threats and challenges facing the Caspian nations, with which we share long-standing, good-neighbourly relations.” This statement highlights a proactive, regionally focused approach that goes beyond a mere display of capabilities to a tailored offering designed to strengthen its partners’ security architecture. The emphasis on systems “proved effective in actual fighting” is particularly noteworthy, suggesting a focus on battle-tested and reliable solutions. This directly addresses the practical concerns of defence procurement, where operational efficacy is paramount.
The exhibition promises a diverse and technologically advanced showcase, reflecting the breadth and depth of Russia’s defence industrial complex. A central focus will be on the burgeoning field of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and their countermeasures. Rosoboronexport’s stand will feature the ZALA-developed Lancet-E reconnaissance-and-strike system, comprising both a reconnaissance UAV and loitering munitions – a testament to the integrated approach to modern aerial warfare. Complementing this, Rostec’s S350M-E, hailed as one of the most effective reconnaissance UAVs, will also be on display, underscoring Russia’s advancements in surveillance and intelligence gathering. The Kalashnikov Group, another integral part of Rostec, will further enrich the UAV segment with its full export lineup of Kub-series loitering munitions, the RUS-PE portable reconnaissance-and-strike system, and the Skat-350M reconnaissance UAV. This extensive UAV offering signals Russia’s recognition of its growing prominence in contemporary conflicts and its commitment to providing sophisticated solutions in this critical area.
Beyond offensive and reconnaissance drones, Rosoboronexport will present a formidable array of air defence and counter-UAV systems. The inclusion of the Pantsir-S1M self-propelled anti-aircraft gun-missile (SPAAGM) system from the High Precision Systems holding company, renowned for its multi-layered defence capabilities, showcases Russia’s proficiency in integrated air defence. A notable highlight for 2026 is the “Citadel AA gun system,” a new product from Rostec, suggesting continued innovation in conventional anti-aircraft artillery. The exhibition will also feature radars for airspace control systems and the Radescan counter-UAV system (Anti-Drone version), addressing the growing challenge posed by hostile drones and emphasizing a comprehensive approach to airspace security.
For Land Forces delegations, the exhibit will present a powerful ensemble of artillery and missile systems from Rostec’s holding companies. The Iskander-E theater ballistic missile system, known for its precision and strategic reach, will undoubtedly be a major draw. Accompanying these will be the 2S40 Flox and 2S43 Malva self-propelled artillery systems, signalling Russia’s advances in mobile, responsive firepower. The 2S41 Drok self-propelled mortar further completes this segment, offering versatile and effective indirect fire support. Together, these systems demonstrate Russia’s sustained investment in ground-based combat capabilities, crucial for conventional military operations.
Air Force delegations will be presented with the Su-35 multi-role, super-manoeuvrable fighter from Rostec’s United Aircraft Corporation. Lauded as “the best in its class” and proven effective in “actual fighting,” the Su-35 represents the pinnacle of Russian aerial combat technology. Its inclusion, alongside a range of advanced air weapons, underscores Russia’s commitment to maintaining a competitive edge in air power and providing comprehensive solutions for modern air forces. The emphasis on operational effectiveness in combat scenarios strongly endorses its capabilities.
The exhibition’s business program will be equally crucial, with Rosoboronexport planning targeted presentations and discussions on ongoing military-technical cooperation and future projects. This interactive component facilitates direct engagement with representatives from Azerbaijan and other participating countries, fostering dialogue and identifying potential avenues for collaboration. Such engagements are vital for building trust, understanding evolving requirements, and tailoring solutions to specific national defence needs.
