In a major boost to the aerospace industry, the Department of Space has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Skyroot Aerospace private Limited for the access to ISRO facilities and expertise towards the development and testing of subsystems and systems of Space Launch Vehicles.
Responding to the development, Pawan Chandana, CEO & founder of Skyroot Aerospace told Indian Aerospace and Defence Bulletin that, “With months of working hand in hand with ISRO after signing an NDA early this year, we at Skyroot Aerospace are humbled to be part of the evolving framework for private space activities in India with signing the first MoU for testing rocket hardware at ISRO facilities.”
Chandana further added that, state of the art facilities are available only in ISRO for testing our propulsion systems and launching our rockets, the access of country’s largest space organization will be vital for Skyroot as well Indian aerospace industry.
The MoU will enable the company for undertaking multiple tests and access facilities at various ISRO centers and enable the technical expertise of ISRO for testing and qualifying their space launch vehicle systems and subsystems.
Whilst commenting on the association, Dr K Sivan, Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, ISRO presented the status of activities. Dr K Sivan appreciated the Skyroot team and assured all support for successfully realizing their launch vehicle.
R Umamaheswaran, Scientific Secretary, ISRO and Chairman, Interim IN-SPACe Committee, signed the Framework MoU on behalf of Department of Space and Mr Pawan Chandana, CEO, Skyroot Aerospace signed the Framework MoU from the company’s side, as reported.
