Akasa Air commits to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft at WINGS India 2024.

By Staff Correspondent

During WINGS India 2024, the biggest civil aviation exhibition in Asia, the fastest-growing Indian airline, Akasa Air, announced a definite purchase of 150 fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The airline’s development ambitions, both local and international, will be solidified by the current purchase, which consists of 737 MAX 10 and 737 MAX 8-200 jets. The deal will provide a constant stream of aircraft deliveries until 2032.

This historic declaration, made at the Indian airshow for the first time, makes Akasa Air the first Indian airline to surpass 200 aircraft on order in 17 months since it began operations. This historic aircraft purchase demonstrates Boeing’s faith in Akasa Air and the strength of the airline’s financial position.

“This large and historic aircraft order puts Akasa on a path to becoming one of the top 30 leading airlines in the world, by the turn of this decade,” stated Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, while speaking at the WINGS 2024 airshow in Hyderabad. We are pleased to be a part of Akasa’s incredible success, which demonstrates the immense potential of the Indian aviation business.

As we soon increase our footprint and venture into international skies, these fleet additions will help us strengthen our operations. We are getting closer to our mission of bridging cultural gaps with every ship we add to our fleet. “As we enter the next stage of our growth, we are confident in our ability to serve millions of satisfied travellers across the globe,” he said.

Our ecosystem is on the brink of a time of natural celebration as we reach a point of financial stability, growth potential, and market share. What really fills me with pride, though, is seeing the work that Akasa and its staff have done to uphold the most stringent safety requirements in the aviation industry throughout the world, all while maintaining an exceptionally high level of reliability and service. The conclusion reached by Vinay highlights the importance of our growth philosophy, which is to expand in tandem with the delivery of an industry-leading customer experience.

Following an initial purchase of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in 2021, Akasa Air placed a subsequent order of 4 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in June 2023. The airline’s order book now boasts an astounding total of 226 aircraft, thanks to this latest transaction in January 2024. With 22 planes in the air at the moment, Akasa Air expects to acquire 204 planes over the next eight years.

Consistent with the airline’s eco-friendly stance, the 737 MAX family offers 20% less fuel consumption and carbon emissions while offering longer flight times and better fuel economy. Also, compared to its competitors, the 737 MAX produces half as much noise as previous models. Along with improved passenger experience, high dispatch dependability, and the lowest seat-mile costs for a single-aisle aeroplane, the 737 MAX series offers all of these and more. Passengers may charge their gadgets on the fly with the included USB outlets, which boost comfort and give plenty of legroom. Furthermore, a homogeneous fleet would enable Akasa Air to alleviate operational complexity and provide trustworthy operations, in accordance with its objective to become India’s most dependable airline.
