Deutsche Aircraft, in collaboration with the global aerospace and national security company Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), proudly celebrates a pivotal milestone for the C-146A, known as the “Wolfhound.” The aircraft, integral to the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), recently surpassed 200,000 operational flying hours, illustrating its vital role in meeting contemporary global mobility requirements.
Introduced into service in 2011, the C-146A Wolfhound has established itself as a cornerstone of the AFSOC’s fleet. With the support of Deutsche Aircraft, a subsidiary of SNC and the primary Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for all D328® type aircraft, the Wolfhound has demonstrated remarkable multi-role capabilities. Its versatility is showcased in its capacity to transport up to 27 passengers, carry 6,000 pounds of cargo, or accommodate four medical evacuation patients, thereby fulfilling diverse mission profiles across multiple operational environments.
In April 2024, a formal ceremony in Florida marked this remarkable 200,000-hour achievement, attended by USAF leadership alongside the aircraft’s dedicated maintenance team and representatives from SNC. Additionally, Deutsche Aircraft commemorated this success at its headquarters near Munich, emphasizing the significance and collaborative spirit behind this milestone.
Nico Neumann, Chief Operating Officer of Deutsche Aircraft, expressed pride in this accomplishment, stating, “We are honoured to be part of this achievement, which highlights once more the robust capabilities and versatility of the D328® turboprop aircraft. This success is based on the dedication of our in-service team and the strong collaboration with SNC.” Such sentiments reflect the commitment of both companies to excellence and innovation in aviation.
Looking forward, the next-generation D328eco™ ensures the continuity of the D328® legacy while enhancing efficiency with cutting-edge technologies. This commitment to innovation not only positions Deutsche Aircraft and SNC as leaders in the aerospace sector but also emphasizes their resolve to provide reliable support for multi-role missions.
The C-146A Wolfhound’s impressive achievement of 200,000 flight hours underscores the importance of strategic partnerships and technological advancement in the aerospace industry. As Deutsche Aircraft and SNC continue to pioneer sustainable solutions and address future challenges in aviation, their contributions will undoubtedly shape the landscape of regional air transport and national security for years to come.
