2,866 Acres Of Land Given To Adani By CIDCO For Developing Navi Mumbai Airport

By Vaibhav Agrawal

2,866 acres of land have been handed over to Adani enterprises by the Maharashtra Government Town planning authority, the City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), to develop green field Navi Mumbai international airport.

All the 3,070 structures in the project area of the proposed international airport have been evicted by the CIDCO. At the same time, this would come up as the second airport for India’s financial capital. The rehabilitation of more than 5,000 families from the villages which fall under the area, is also near completion by the town planning body.

CIDCO has achieved a significant milestone in the development of the airport project. It is being developed by the Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises.

By acquiring ten villages in the Panvel area of Raigad district, which is near Mumbai, CIDCO is developing the international Airport project on over 2,866 acres (1160 hectares) of land.

CIDCO has already provided the PAPs with a comprehensive rehabilitation package, considering their contributions from these villages for an important National project, as approved by the government of Maharashtra.

Sanjay Mukherjee, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, CIDCO said, “CIDCO has successfully completed the important milestones of the airport project to date due to the cooperation of the PAPs (project-affected persons) of Navi Mumbai International Airport. The challenging task of clearing the airport site was no exception to it. The work of Navi Mumbai International Airport is proceeding as per the scheduled timelines, and the project is on track.”
