Dr G Satheesh Reddy Receives Prestigious IETE Honorary Fellowship 2022-23

Former Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Dr G Satheesh Reddy, who has also served as the the Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO in his long career, has been honoured with the Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) ‘Honorary Fellowship 2022-23’. The accolade was presented during the Annual IETE Convention 2023 at YASHADA in Pune.

The IETE, a prominent professional society in India, champions progress in Electronics, Telecommunication, and IT. “The award underlines Dr Reddy’s eminent service to the country’s Defence R&D sector,” the press release issued on this development highlighted. “He has steered the DRDO in its path-breaking endeavours across diverse defence technologies, encompassing missiles, strategic systems, UAVs, and more, bolstering India’s self-reliance in defence,” it read further.

Dr Reddy has contributed significantly to developing navigation systems, avionics, and various defence technologies during his tenure. His dedication and leadership have earned him many national and international commendations.

In his address at the convention, Dr Reddy highlighted the paramount importance of indigenous development in electronics and telecommunications. He envisaged a future where India not only achieves self-reliance but also becomes a dominant exporter in these sectors, driven by cutting-edge technology.

Padmashree Dr Pramod P Kale, Eminent Scientist and ex-director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The gathering saw robust participation from IETE President Dr V Gunasekhar Reddy, General Council Committee members, awardees, life members, and a significant student representation from Pune’s academic circle.
